In September 2024, Stanford University in the United States released the Top 2% of Scientists on Stanford List, including the Lifetime Science Impact Rankings (Career long Impact 1960-2023 and Single year Impact 2023).

This list is jointly released by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis' team at Stanford University and the internationally renowned academic publishing house Elsevier. It is based on a comprehensive set of parameters, including the number of citations of papers by approximately 10 million scientists worldwide, the h-index (H-index), the co-author adjusted h-index, the number of citations of individual or first authored articles, and the journal impact factor. It reflects the overall output and academic influence of scientists,and includes 2% of scientists from 22 disciplinary fields and 176 sub disciplinary fields ranked globally. 

Professor Zhao Yonghao and Professor Ma Aibin from the Micro-Nano Structured Materials Group have been shortlisted for the 'Career Lifetime Influential Top Scientists' and '2023 Single-year Influential Scientists' lists; Professors Jiang Jinghua, Liu Huan, Song Dan, and Cao Yang have been shortlisted for the '2023 Single-year Influential Scientists' list.
